Lihme- Skive’s hidden gems
Stone church, beach and waterside trails– where history lives in the landscape

Lihme – fjord life and stories through the ages
Lihme is a place where time has left its mark. The town has been inhabited for thousands of years, and at the heart of the landscape stands Lihme Church – one of Jutland’s oldest stone churches, built around the year 1100. The well-preserved church and the many Stone Age burial mounds in the area bear witness to early settlements along the Limfjord, giving the town a distinctive historical depth.
The fjord plays a central role in Lihme. At Gyldendal Marina, harbour life, beach and relaxation come together. Here you will find a child-friendly bathing beach, and behind the restaurant are shelters, a play and sensory area, and small walking paths inviting you to pause and enjoy the outdoors. The harbour is located where bricks were once shipped from the Gyldendal and Hostrup brickworks – yet another layer in the story of the area.
North of Lihme lies Ålbæk, with its campsite, excellent bathing conditions and charming, authentic fishermen’s houses. The area is perfect for summer days by the water, where the pace is slow and the fjord is always close by.
Lihme is also an excellent starting point for hiking. Follow the routes between Gyldendal, Vendal and Kås, or explore the Kås peninsula towards Ålbæk Beach, where views, coastline and open landscape blend together. Along the way, you can visit an open Stone Age grave and continue towards Lem Plantation, where the forest offers shelter and tranquillity.
