Nautrup – nature close at hand in the heart of Salling

Nautrup is centrally located in Salling and surrounded by outstanding natural experiences. From here, it is only a short distance to both Harre Vig and the peaceful landscape around Lake Grynderup, established in 2011 as a nature restoration project. Covering around 140 hectares, the lake is now home to rich and varied birdlife.

Lake Grynderup can be experienced from several viewpoints. Three birdwatching towers – two at the southern end near Bystedmøllevej and one to the north near Grynderupvej – allow you to get close to nature and observe the birds in calm surroundings. Here, silence is part of the experience, broken only by wings and wind.

In the centre of Nautrup lies the town’s sports and activity area – a green gathering place with plenty of space for play and relaxation. At Nautrup Sports Field you will find a newly built shelter, a large playground, a zip line, a covered fire hut and a combined outdoor kitchen and toilet facility. The area borders directly onto woodland and a network of trails inviting you to walk or cycle through the surrounding countryside.

Nautrup is an ideal starting point for exploring nature. A trail network of around 15 routes leads you through and around the town – across open fields, through woodland and past historical landmarks. Along the way, you can visit Rundhøj, a prominent ancient burial mound dating back as far as 3950–501 BC, bearing witness to the area’s long history.

The town’s story also gathers around Nautrup Church, which stands as a calm landmark in the landscape. Nautrup is a place where nature, history and community blend together – and where experiences begin just outside your door.
